Each arch contains arch-specific cartilage (C), muscle anlage (M), artery (A), and cranial nerve (CN). Inner branchial pouch (FBP) is lined by endoderm (EN), and outer branchial cleft (groove) (FBC) is lined by ectoderm (EC). Branchial membrane (FBM) consists of endodermal cells of branchial pouch, ectodermal cells of branchial cleft, and intervening mesoderm.
