PRECOCIOUS SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT

ROENTGENOGRAPHIC ASPECTS

Roentgenographic methods have been used to demonstrate causes of precocious sexual development. Included are abnormalities of the hypothalamus, adrenal gland, gonads, and extraglandular neoplasms such as teratorna and hepatoma. The latter two tumors may secrete androgenic or gonadotropic hormones.

girls has occasionally been associated with sexual precocity and an enlarged sella turcica. The sella returns to normal on prolonged thyroid therapy.

McCune-Albright syndrome is characterized by sexual precocity in females, associated with café au lait spots and disseminated fibrous dysplasia.
