Appendicitis, a nonesoteric and common disease, can rarely be a diagnostic challenge to any clinician. The radiologist, if alert and aware of its less usual presentations and complications, may be able to suggest the correct diagnosis. The abdominal roentgenographic findings in 5 patients with perforated appendices and a short review of other roentgen signs which may be present in appendicitis are discussed.
