A modification of the T3 resin sponge uptake test, which we have called the ratio T3 test, is described.
We have found that the following advantages accrue: (a) only one count rather than two counts is required for each sample; (b) no computation is necessary; the result is read directly from the scaler; (c) results are expressed in the same way and are essentially the same values as in the standard triosorb test; and (d) the correlation of the ratio T3 to the triosorb test is nearly perfect.
