Conventional submaxillary sialography was combined with direct insufflation of O2 into the submandibular space and pneumotomography in 32 patients. Simultaneous opacification of the secretory canaliculi and visualization of the edges of the gland was obtained. Tomograms further improved the results of the study.
The findings in normal subjects, in later-ocervical lymphadenopathy (tuberculous and metastatic) cases, and in patients with Wharton's duct lithiasis are discussed and illustrated.
