SPONTANEOUS EPIDURAL SPINAL HEMORRHAGE

MARTIN E. HARRIS M.D.1

1 Associate Radiologist, Presbyterian Hospital Center; Clinical Associate, Department of Radiology, University of New Mexico, College of Medicine, Albuquerque, New Mexico

A case of spontaneous epidural hematoma is described and the clinical and roentgenographic findings are discussed.

It is emphasized that spontaneous epidural hematoma with spinal cord compression is a distinct clinical entity which should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute spinal cord syndromes or acute ruptured intervertebral disk disease.
