THE ROENTGENOLOGIC FEATURES OF HEMOPERITONEUM IN THE NEWBORN

A study of 52 cases of hemoperitoneum in the newborn encountered at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, Cape Town, during the 10 year period 1957 through 1966 is presented.

Specific roentgenologic features are described and illustrated, and their value in making a correct clinical diagnosis is stressed.

The role of a vitamin K dependent bleeding tendency and trauma as etiologic factors is mentioned in addition to the results of treatment.
