We believe that the primary responsibility of a therapy resident is to take care of sick patients. He does have the responsibility, however, for calculating the machine settings to deliver the prescribed dose to the primary dose control point in the patient, even though this calculation is independently checked by a dosimetry technologist.
This paper represents an attempt to develop a unified, logically consistent methodology for the basic dose calculations to make the complex problem as simple as possible.*
