AGENESIS OF THE LUNG

ISSA YAGHMAI M.D.1

1 Associate Professor of Radiology.

Two cases of unilateral agenesis of the lung are described.

For the first time a case of agenesis of the right lung, in association with complete absence of inferior vena cava, hypoplastic right iliac vein, and hypoplastic azygos vein, is reported. The clinical and roentgenographic findings in agenesis of the right lung are more striking than in the case of agenesis of the left lung.

The plain film roentgenograms are sufficient in most cases to reach a correct diagnosis.

Cardioangiography is safer, better tolerated and more informative than other procedures for definite diagnosis of this condition.
