CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH CONGENITAL MEGACOLON

RAPHAEL F. KILCOYNE M.D. and HOOSHANG TAYBI M.D., M.Sc., (PED.)

In a review of 31 proven cases of Hirschsprung's disease, 5 had other gastrointestinal anomalies; i.e., (1) gastric diverticulum, (2) intestinal atresia, (3) annular pancreas, (4) duplication, (5) malrotation, and (6) localized rectal stenosis. Five had Down's syndrome. Three patients had involvement of the entire colon and all died.

In patients with Hirschsprung's disease other associated anomalies should be looked for.
