NARROWINGS OF THE MALE URETHRA CAUSED BY CONTRACTIONS OR SPASM OF THE BULBOCAVERNOSUS MUSCLE: CYSTO-URETHROGRAPHIC OBSERVATIONS

GUIDO CURRARINO M.D.

Contractions or spasm of the bulbocavernosus muscle may produce a localized narrowing of the bulbous urethra in the voiding urethrogram which may have to be differentiated from a stricture.

The phenomenon may occur as a transient event in otherwise normal individuals, or as a persistent manifestation of neurogenic bladder.
