Varieties of neurovascular compression at the thoracic outlet are described, and 2 cases of associated arterial emboli in young women are reported. In addition to recurrent emboli to the upper limbs, both had evidence of arteriopathy on embolism proximal to the compression.
Origins of emboli to the upper limb are listed, and the indications for, and technique of arteriography in thoracic outlet compression are suggested.
In view of inevitable sequelae of unrelieved arterial compression, an early study is essential. It is very safe.
