POLYPOID LYMPHOID HYPERPLASIA OF THE TERMINAL ILEUM IN PATIENTS WITH FAMILIAL POLYPOSIS COLI AND WITH GARDNER’S SYNDROME

JEAN J. VANHOUTTE M.D.

Multiple polypoid lesions of the terminal ileum observed by barium study and at surgery in patients with colonic polyposis will probably be lymphoid hyperplasia and not an extension of the adenomatous polyposis of the colon, even though their macroscopic appearance is similar. The nature of the ileal poiyps should be verified by histology.
