Twenty-one patients with Crohns disease and 11 patients with ulcerative colitis were examined angiographically before operation, in some cases after an intraarterial injection of bradykinin or vasopressin.
In addition, in 10 cases (9 Crohns disease and 1 ulcerative colitis) angiographies were performed on intestinal specimens postoperatively.
The results show great angiographic similarities between the 2 diseases, and angiography thus allows no conclusive differential diagnosis.
