Low-lying lesions of the rectum and sigmoid colon may be difficult to demonstrate, especially in the presence of redundant bowel. This becomes critical in cases referred to the radiologist for examination without previous endoscopy.
The use of a simple angle prone projection for evaluation of the rectosigmoid is recommended.
