ANGIOGRAPHY IN POSTERIOR FOSSA TUMORS OF INFANCY AND CHILDHOOD

SAMUEL M. WOLPERT M.D.

In the 9 cases reported, posterior fossa angiography provided definitive information as to the site of the lesions.

Posterior fossa angiography is a relatively new field and the arteries and veins are subject to many gross variations.2,7

The cases were selected to emphasize the value of angiography, but it should be mentioned that in some of the other cases in our material an accurate diagnosis was not achieved.

We believe that the angiographic appearances often alone suffice to locate the lesions, but would nevertheless always advocate air studies both to confirm the site of the lesion and to demonstrate other alterations in posterior fossa morphology.
