Pelvic pneumography was misleading in 1 of 2 teen-aged girls with congenital absence of the vagina. It showed an "empty" pelvis, but a normal infraperitoneal retroverted uterus was found at operation, and a reconstructive operation could be performed.
The diagnosis of congenital absence of the uterus should be made with caution when using pelvic pneumography.
