PELVIC LIPOMATOSIS

LUIS B. MORETTIN M.D.1 and MCCLURE WILSON M.D.2

1 Assistant Professor of Radiology.
2 Professor of Radiology.

Pelvic lipomatosis is a roentgenographic and clinical entity recognizable as a characteristic and peculiar deformity of the rectum and urinary bladder. It is produced by a diffuse infiltration of fibroadipose tissue in the true pelvis surrounding those organs.

A case is reported which also exhibited prominent pericardial fat pads.

The roentgenographic appearance is pathognomonic and other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures are unnecessary.
