INTRACRANIAL CALCIFICATION IN THE CONGENITAL RUBELLA SYNDROME

3 Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Radiological Sciences, Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California.

Intracranial calcification in the congenital rubella syndrome, which has previously been demonstrated histologically, is reported roentgenographically and shown on skull roentgenograms at 1 day and again at 1 year of age, in a well documented case exhibiting other common manifestations of the syndrome.

This finding further expands the concept of the lack of specificity of roentgenographic manifestations in neonatal viral disease.
