Moiré is a term which indicates a wavelike, cloudy or frosted appearance of textile fabrics or metallic surfaces. It can also occur in the x-ray spectrum when 2 Bucky grids are superimposed. The 2 most likely circumstances under which the appearance might be observed by the radiographer would be coincident to the exposure of films through cross-hatch grids, or on films exposed through a grid cassette placed in a spot-film device which already has a built-in grid.
