The specification for a simulator is that it shall be an x-ray machine specifically designed to produce visible records portraying the path which proposed beams of therapeutic radiation will take relative to a patients tumor and neighboring anatomic structures.
A popular concept is that simulators must "duplicate the geometry" of the therapy units with which they are teamed. This is impossible of accomplishment in the case of Co60 teletherapy units.
The authors describe in detail a Co60 simulator, designed in the experimental shop, which is simple, inexpensive and advantageous to use.
