CLINICAL COURSES OF HODGKIN’S DISEASE AND OTHER MALIGNANT LYMPHOMAS

YEU-TSU N. LEE M.D., CARLOS SAY M.D., JOSE M. HORI M.D., and JOHN S. SPRATT JR. M.D.

This is a retrospective and all-inclusive study of 163 patients with Hodgkin’s disease and 364 patients with other lymphomas who were admitted to a state cancer hospital from 1940 to 1971.

All the histologic diagnoses were confirmed and the cases were reclassified according to the Rye system for Hodgkin’s disease and the Rappaport classification for non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.

Age-adjusted survival data are presented according to age, sex, clinical stage, pathologic subtype, decade of admission, and type of therapy.

Similarities and differences of the clinical courses of patients with Hodgkin’s disease and other malignant lymphomas are discussed.
