LYMPHOSARCOMA OF THE COLON

NEIL H. MESSINGER M.D., LEWIS M. BOBROFF M.D., and THOMAS C. BENEVENTANO M.D.

Lymphosarcoma of the colon is an uncommon disease entity. The roentgenographic findings which have been most helpful in differentiating lymphosarcoma from other colonic disorders include the presence of: diffuse nodular lesions with irregular margins, the latter suggesting infiltration of the bowel wall; bulky ulcerating masses extending over a long segment of the colon; an association of nonuniform submucosal nodules and marked haustral thickening and circumferential narrowing of the colonic lumen with intact mucosa.

Finally, any colonic lesion in a patient with known systemic lymphoma is suspect for being lymphosarcoma of the colon.
