TUBERCULOUS MESENTERIC LYMPHADENITIS

WITH EMPHASIS ON ANGIOGRAPHIC FINDINGS

STEPHEN L. GAMMILL M.D.1 and CHARLES M. NICE JR. M.D.2

1 Associate Professor of Radiology, Tulane University; Assistant Radiologist, Charity Hospital; Consultant, U. S. Public Health Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana.
2 Professor and Chairman, Department of Radiology, Tulane University, and Director of Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Charity Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Two cases of tuberculous mesenteric lymphadenitis with emphasis on the angiographic findings are reported.

In one the celiac axis was stenosed and became less so with antituberculous therapy. The other had enlargement and bowing of a superior pancreaticoduodenal artery and staining around the duodenum and head of the pancreas thought to have been secondary to hypervascularity of the inflamed lymph nodes.

This disease may be successfully treated either medically or surgically.
