Four patients are reported with cystic teratomas (dermoid cysts) of the ovary occurring during pregnancy. The roentgenographic features were typical except that the tumors presented as mid or upper abdominal masses. Clinically, the tumors simulated cholecystitis, appendicitis and ureteral calculus.
A correct preoperative diagnosis is more likely if the roentgenologist is aware that these tumors may present in atypical locations during pregnancy.
