Eight patients are reported in whom the clinical signs and symptoms and the known underlying malignancy suggested metastatic disease of the lumbosacral epidural space.
Careful analysis of the plain film roentgenographic findings demonstrated subtle lytic changes in the lumbosacral region in all but 1 patient.
The presence of persistent, although minimal, irregularities of the distal subarachnoid space should suggest malignant involvement of the distal epidural space.
