Diagnostic B-scan ultrasound and urography are not competitive, but complementary diagnostic modalities for the diagnosis of renal masses in children.
As illustrated in the case presentations, differential diagnostic features of congenital hydronephrosis, congenital multicystic disease, obstructive uropathy, Wilms tumor, and obstructive vascular disease of the kidneys are most accurate when both modalities are utilized.
