THE RIGHT ANGLE UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL SERIES IN THE DIAGNOSIS AND STAGING OF NEUROBLASTOMA

PHILIP SORABELLA M.D., WALTER E. BERDON M.D., and DAVID H. BAKER M.D.

Frontal and lateral upper gastrointestinal studies are a valuable aid in the detection and evaluation of patients with intraabdominal neuroblastoma.

They contribute to the staging of the disease by demonstrating tumor extension across the midline, into the root of the mesentery and metastatic spread to liver.

The importance of these findings in terms of prognosis for survival is discussed.
