A patient receiving cholestyramine underwent oral cholecystography with iopanoic acid (Telepaque) and showed evidence of an abnormal gallbladder.
When the oral cholecystography was repeated following discontinuation of cholestyramine, the study was normal.
In vitro studies demonstrate that cholestyramine has a strong affinity for iopanoate.
