Eighty-three intravenous pyelograms were studied to evaluate thinning of the parenchyma on the medial edge of the superior pole of the kidney as an indicator of vesicoureteral reflux. The data indicate that this finding is suggestive of reflux: the greater the difference between the two sides, the more likely the patient is to reflux.
