Percutaneous Cryoablation of Symptomatic Extraabdominal Metastatic Disease: Preliminary Results

Michael D. Beland1, Damian E. Dupuy1 and William W. Mayo-Smith1

1 All authors: Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Brown Medical School, Rhode Island Hospital, 593 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02903.

OBJECTIVE. The objective of our study was to describe our initial experience using percutaneous cryoablation for palliation of symptomatic extraabdominal metastases or recurrent soft-tissue tumors.

CONCLUSION. Preliminary results suggest that percutaneous cryoablation may offer a minimally invasive alternative for relief of symptomatic metastatic disease in patients for whom conventional therapy failed.
