1 All authors: Department of Radiology, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, 3400 Spruce St., Philadelphia, PA 19101.

OBJECTIVE. The use of the Viatorr stent-graft for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) creation is thought to improve patency rates. This study was designed to show the feasibility and pitfalls of imaging Viatorr TIPS using MRI.

CONCLUSION. MRI of the Viatorr stent-graft is feasible for the initial assessment of the TIPS. Familiarity with the imaging patterns will allow proper interpretation of the MRI findings. MRI also allows the depiction of detailed anatomic information concerning stent positioning.
