TWO UNUSUAL CASES OF SUBCLAVIAN STEAL SYNDROME

BILATERAL STEAL AND STEAL SECONDARY TO TUMOR THROMBUS

O. F. AGEE M.D.1

1 Assistant Professor, University of Florida Teaching Hospital and Clinics, Gainesville, Florida

Two unusual examples of the subclavian steal syndrome are presented. The first, probably a patient with Takayasu's syndrome, demonstrated bilateral subclavian steal with additional complete obstruction of the left internal carotid artery and partial obstruction of the right internal carotid artery. The second patient, with incipient subclavian steal due to a partially occluded left subclavian artery (with companying complete occlusion of left common carotid artery) shows an unusual etiology for this syndrome, namely, metastatic tumor thrombus.
