RESIDUAL RADIOPAQUE BOLUS IN MANAGING INTRASPINAL NEOPLASMS

CHARLES F. MARTIN JR. M.D.1, EUGENE GEDGAUDAS M.D.1, and GIULIO J. D'ANGIO M.D.1

1 From The Department of Radiology, University of Minnesota Hospitals, University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Patients with intraspinal tumors often undergo myelographic examination. The subsequent course and response of such patients to radiation therapy can be documented expeditiously by leaving behind a bolus of the contrast agent at the time of the initial study. The technique is described in detail and illustrated with the report of a typical case. The indications, complications, and hazards are discussed.
