1 From the Department of Radiology, New York University, School of Medicine, and the Radiation Therapy Department, Bellevue Hospital, New York, New York
1. A combination of parathyroid hormone and radioactive phosphorus was given to 8 patients with multiple metastatic deposits in the bone.
2. The theoretic principles governing the choice of parathormone and radiophosphorus are discussed.
3. All patients reacted to the parathormone and developed a rebound phase upon its withdrawal. The isotope was introduced at this time.
4. No ill effects were encountered from para thormone.
5. Relief from pain was achieved in 6 of the 8 patients.
6. Roentgen evidence of re-calcification of the osteolytic foci is presented.
