I appreciate the further clarification provided by Drs. Vydareny and Amis regarding the rationale and processes behind the proposed program requirement changes. Now that the proposed changes have been formally released to the radiology community, it is appropriate to thoroughly revisit the discussion, especially for those who are seeing these proposals for the first time. It is especially helpful to learn that the changed wording regarding radiology/pathology correlation does not reflect a relaxation in the standards that programs will be expected to meet in this regard. The members of the RRC have invested a great deal of effort to balance the educational and patient safety considerations involved in resident education. As these changes affect all radiology residency programs, it is reassuring to know that the RRC will carefully consider each individual comment submitted.
