REFINEMENTS IN CEREBROSPINAL FLUID DIVERSIONARY SHUNT EVALUATION BY CISTERNOGRAPHY
Abstract
Shunt evaluation by cisternography requires proper placement of the radiopharmaceutical and obtaining images in suitable areas.
Injection either directly into the lateral ventricle, into the shunt system, or into the lumbar subarachnoid space is desirable depending upon the clinical circumstances of the study.
Quantification of the disappearance of radioactivity from the lateral ventricle may be necessary to determine adequate shunt function.
